승리(9): 하나님의 구원을 경험해야 합니다 역하18:29-34; 19:1-6
We must Experience God’s Deliverance
‘죽다가 살아났다’는 말이 있습니다. 다들
한번은 그런 경험이 있을 줄 압니다. 오늘읽은 본문도 여호사밧이 전쟁에 나갔다 구사일생으로 살아 돌아오는
장면입니다.북쪽 아합 왕의 자식과 결혼을 맺고 군사적으로 연합하여 아람과 전쟁을 하게 됩니다.
그런데 전장에 나가기도 전에 여호사밧은 노련한 아합 왕에게 말려 듭니다.
Almost everyone has had some sort of near-death experience. Today’s
verses are about Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, who goes out to war and comes back
alive. He has formed an alliance with the King of Northern Israel, Ahab, and must
fight a war with Aram. Prior to going to war, he becomes persuaded into
following Ahab’s wishes.
아합 자신은 변장을 하고 여호사밧에게 왕복을 입으라고 제안합니다(18:29). 아마도 아합은 남쪽의 왕이 죽으면 쉽게 남유다를 자신의 손에 넣을 것까지 계산했던 것 같습니다.
힘을 합해 공동의 적인 아람을 물리치고 또 이 전쟁에서 유다 왕이 죽으면 꿩 먹고 알 먹는 것이 됩니다.
Ahab requests that Jehoshaphat dons Ahab’s robes when he goes to battle
(18:29). Most likely, Ahab thinks that if Jehoshaphat dies in battle, Ahab will
be able to easily conquer Judah. Ahab’s plan is to defeat Aram with Jehoshaphat’s
help, and when Jehoshaphat dies, to conquer Judah.
그런데 전투가 시작되자 적의 아람 왕은 아합 왕을 죽이는 것에
몰두 합니다. 그래서 지휘관들에게 그만 집중해서 공격하라고
명령을 내립니다(18:30). 명령에 따라 아람 군인들은 왕복을 입은 사람이 아합 인줄 알고 여호사밧에게
달려 듭니다(18:31). 놀란 여호사밧은 소리를 지릅니다. 과연 누구에게
소리를 질렀을까요?
When the battle starts, the king of Aram sets out to kill Ahab. Following
his orders, his captains find Jehoshaphat, who is wearing Ahab’s clothes, and
surround him. The surprised Jehoshaphat cries out in desperation. Who does he
cry out to?
아람 군인들을 향해 “나 아니야”라고 소리쳤을까요? 그렇다고 군인들이 믿을 까요? 다급해진
여호사밧은 “아합 왕이여 어디 있나이까 적들이 내게로 옵니다?” 라고
소리치자 적들도 그가 가리키는 곳을 보게 될 것입니다. 그래도 전장에는 흔한 변장술이기에 일단 변장을 한
그부터 죽이고 난 뒤 진짜 아합을 찾을 것입니다.
Does he cry out to the Aram warriors that he was not the king of Israel?
Would the warriors believe him? Even if they did, would they not kill him first
and then set out to find Ahab?
그렇다면 여호사밧은 누구에게 외쳐야 할까요? 무엇을 소리쳐야 할까요? 본문에는 빠져있습니다. 그러나 ‘여호와께서 그를 도우시며
하나님이 추격하는 자들을 감동시켜 그를 떠나게 했더라’는 표현을 31절 하반절에서 보게 됩니다. 이것으로 보아 다른 어떤 사람에게도 소리치지 않고 하나님께 부르짖은
것입니다.
The verses do not specify to whom Jehoshaphat cried out. However, verse
31 says that the “LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.” From
this we can see that Jehoshaphat cried out to God.
여기 ‘부르짖다’는 누군가에게 도와 달라고 소리치는 것을 말합니다. 분명 아합은 도와주지 않습니다.
하나님이 그를 도와 주시는 것으로 보아 하나님을 찾은 것이 분명합니다. 왕복을 입은
자는 살고 신분을 숨기기 위해 평복을 입은 예후는 죽었습니다. 이 사건으로 여호사밧은 엄청난 하나님의 은혜를
경험합니다.
“Cry out” means to yell for help. Ahab, of course, does not help
Jehoshaphat. It is clear from the fact that God helps Jehoshaphat that
Jehoshaphat has found the Lord. On the other hand, Ahab, who has donned normal robes
to disguise himself, becomes mortally wounded in battle. From this we can see
that Jehoshaphat has experienced the incredible grace of God.
한 사람이 하나님의 구원을 경험하는 순간입니다. 여호사밧은 겨우 목숨을 구해 예루살렘으로 돌아옵니다(19:1).
이런 와중에 선지자가 와서 아합과 연합한 사실을 지적하고 꾸짖습니다. 자신의 아버지
아사에게도 비슷한 경우가 있었습니다(역하 16:7). 공교롭게도 그때
선지자는 지금 선지자의 아버지였습니다(하나니-예후).
It is the experience of one individual’s salvation. Jehoshaphat returns
to Jerusalem with his life (19:1). Then, Jehu the seer meets Jehoshaphat and condemns
his alliance with Israel. Note that Jehoshaphat’s father, King Asa, had a similar
experience (2 Chronicles 16:7). Interestingly, the seer who warned King Asa was
the father of the seer who warns Jehoshaphat—Hanani.
아버지와 아들 선지자가 아사와 여호사밧의 대를 이어 잘못을 지적했던 것입니다. 그때 아버지 아사 왕은 선지자 하나니에게 화를 내며 그를 감옥에 집어 넣어버립니다(역하 16:10). 그럴 때 하나님이 아버지 아사를 친 모습을 봅니다(역하 16:12). 그러나 아들 여호사밧은 선지자 예후에 대하여 같은 실수를 저지르지 않습니다.
When Hanani had come to King Asa to condemn his unholy alliance with
Aram, Asa had become angry at the Lord and imprisoned Hanani. Thus, in 1
Chronicles 16:12, the Lord strikes King Asa with a disease. However, his son
Jehoshaphat does not make the same mistake.
이것이 하나님의 구원을 경험한 사람의 승리하는 모습입니다(#1). 하나님의 구원을 경험한 사람은 자신에 대하여 주어지는
하나님의 꾸중 까지도 전적으로 수용합니다. 그리고 두 번 다시 악한 일을 꾀하지 않습니다. 그래서 여호사밧은 남유다의 삼대 선한 왕에 들어갑니다. 하나님 보시기에 마음에 든 왕이라는
것입니다.
This is the manner in which a person who has received deliverance succeeds.
Someone who has experienced salvation by the Lord endures God’s discipline as
well. Moreover, he does not perform the same wickedness twice. This is why
Jehoshaphat becomes one of the three good kings of Judah. The Bible says that
he was a king who pleased God.
그런데 사람은 큰 실수를 해서 남들로부터 비난을 받으면 대부분 낙담하고 새로운 일을 시작하기가 쉽지 않습니다. 여호사밧 역시 전쟁에서 패배한 왕입니다.
병사들도 잃고 국가 재산 상실도 큽니다. 국가적 위기를 초래한 장본인입니다.
국민들로부터 원성도 대단했을 것이고 지지도 엄청 떨어져 있을 것입니다.
However, people who make a big mistake and are criticized by others for
it often have trouble making a fresh start. Jehoshaphat was defeated in war. He
lost many warriors and his country lost many of its assets. He is the person who
causes crisis to come to his country. He must have been very unpopular.
그러나 구원을 경험한 사람은 다릅니다. 4절을 보기 바랍니다. “여호사밧이 예루살렘에 살더니 다시 나가”라는 표현을 보게 됩니다. 오뚝이처럼 다시 일어선 것입니다. 자신을 얽매고 있는 패배감과 상실감 절망감 낙담 실망 허무
포기 실패 좌절 의기소침을 떨쳐 버립니다(#2). 우리도 그렇게 해야 합니다.
However, those who have experienced salvation are different. Look at Chapter
19 verse 4: “Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and he went out again.” After
failure, he rises again. He dispels the feelings of despair, discouragement, disappointment,
frustration, and depression. We, too, must learn from him.
코로나 바이러스로 세상이 두려워하고 교회도 모이는 것조차도 어렵습니다. 그러나 하나님의 구원을 경험한 성도는 이럴 때 일어나야 합니다. 못하는 것이 많이 생긴다는 것은 달리 생각하면 다른 것을 할 수 있는 시간이 생긴다는 의미입니다. 지금부터는 지금까지 하고 있던 것 하느라 바빠서 못한 것들을 찾아서 해야 합니다.
Due to coronavirus, the world is terrified and the church has difficulty
meeting. However, those who have experienced God’s salvation must rise up in
difficult times. There are many things we cannot do, but this just means we
should use our time for other things. We must do the things that until now we
have been too busy to do.
개인적으로 관계를 돈독하게 할 수 있는 시간들입니다. 직접 만나기가 힘들면 서로 카톡이라도 연결해서 더욱
만남을 많이 해 나가길 바랍니다. 기혼자 분들이나 청년들도 목장을 중심으로 형제는 형제 자매는 자매끼리 서로
한 사람씩 짝을 지으면 좋겠네요. 짝이 되신 분들은 하루에 한 번 안부를 물어주면 좋겠습니다.
We can strengthen personal relationships. If you cannot meet in person,
we can at least send them messages. Those who are married or unmarried singles
can designate one person of the same gender to contact and check in on them at
least once a day.
그리고 본인들이 읽고 있는 성경 말씀 중 은혜로운 한 구절을 서로 나누기를 할까 합니다. 특히 힘든 시간들이 다 지나기까지 기도제목을 나누며
좋은 친교를 이어가기를 바랍니다. 하나님의 구원을 경험한 사람들은 어려운 가운데 주저 않아 있지 말고 다시
일어서는 사람들이 되어야 합니다.
Moreover, I am thinking that everyone should try to share one verse from
their bible reading, or a prayer request, in order to strengthen fellowship. Those
who have experienced God’s salvation do not despair in the midst of
difficulties; they get right back up.
다시 일어난 여호사밧은 무엇을 했을까요? 온 유다를 돌면서 사람들을 하나님께로 돌아오게 합니다(4절). 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 왕과 함께 전쟁터에 나갔던
자식을 잃은 부모도 만났을 것입니다. 연인을 잃은 사람도, 남편을 잃고
아버지를 잃은 가족들도 만났을 것입니다. 그들을 하나님께로 돌아오게 하기 위해 일어난 것입니다.
What does Jehoshaphat do once he gets back up? He travels around Judah
and turns them back to the Lord. This is not an easy task. He must have met
many people who lost their own children or spouses or fathers in the war. However,
he wanted to turn them back to God.
그는 어떻게 해서 백성들을 하나님께로 돌아오게 할 수 있었을까요? 남편을 잃고 아들을 잃어 힘들고 나약한 자들이 더 억울함을 재판에서 당하지 않도록 공정한 재판이 이루어지도록
개혁을 시도합니다. 하나님께 구원을 경험한 왕이 지치고 상한 마음을 가진 연약한 백성들을 위해 할 수 있는
일이었습니다.
How does he turn the people back to the Lord? So that people will not
suffer unfair judicial judgments, he appoints judges and commands them to judge
without partiality. This was one thing that the king could do for his forlorn
and exhausted people.
구원을 경험한 사람은 자신만이 남들을 위해 할 수 있는 일을 찾습니다(#3). 구원받은 성도는 성령 하나님, 보혜사가 우리 속에 계십니다. 내 속에 계시는 위로자가 분명 우리를 통해 역사하기를 원하십니다.
모두들 두려워 손을 놓는 시기에 성령은 우리로 하여금 위로 할 수 있는 방법을 찾게 하실 것입니다.
Those who have been saved look for ways to serve others. Those who are
saved have the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, inside us. The Comforter inside us
wants to work through us. At a time when everyone cowers in fear, the Holy Spirit
will surely work within us to comfort others.
그리고 위로자 되시는 성령 하나님과 함께 사람들을 지혜롭게 만나게 할 것입니다. 힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 사람들에게 구원 받은 우리를
지혜롭게 다가서게 만들 것입니다. 구원 받은 우리를 위로의 사람으로 바꾸어주실 줄 믿습니다.
어려운 시기에 일어나 주와 동행하며 위로의 바람이 일어나기를 주님의 이름으로 축복합니다.
Moreover, the Holy Spirit will help us to meet people wisely. He will change
us so that we can comfort others. If we walk with God during these difficult
times, we will surely see the winds of comfort.

Chapter 18. 29 And the king of Israel said
unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put
thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to
the battle. 30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots
that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with
the king of Israel. 31 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots
saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they
compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped
him; and God moved them to depart from him. 32 For it came to pass, that, when
the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they
turned back again from pursuing him. 33 And a certain man drew a bow at a
venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness:
therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry
me out of the host; for I am wounded. 34 And the battle increased that day:
howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians
until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
19 When Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned
safely to his palace in Jerusalem, 2 Jehu the seer, the son of Hanani, went out
to meet him and said to the king, “Should you help the wicked and love[a] those
who hate the Lord? Because of this, the wrath of the Lord is on you. 3 There
is, however, some good in you, for you have rid the land of the Asherah poles
and have set your heart on seeking God.”
Jehoshaphat Appoints Judges
Chapter 19. 4 Jehoshaphat lived in
Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill
country of Ephraim and turned them back to the Lord, the God of their
ancestors. 5 He appointed judges in the land, in each of the fortified cities
of Judah. 6 He told them, “Consider carefully what you do, because you are not
judging for mere mortals but for the Lord, who is with you whenever you give a
verdict.
